1st Day-Trip / Arrival

It’s the day you Arrive to Madeira Island.

2nd Day- Vereda das Funduras (7,5km) 3h30 walk

This trail starts from the viewpoint of Portela, where you can admire the beauty of the villages of Porto da Cruz and Faial, near the imposing rock of Penha d’Águia. The tour continues along the forest road of Serra das Funduras entering the path that leads through the magnificent Laurissilva forest. Along the way, through this forest, you can enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the endemic flora and fauna of the island of Madeira. Enjoy nature while walking and enjoy the Arriving at “Casa das Funduras”, a country house that supports the forest activities of the area. Next, to the house, you will find the descent to the Maroços, up to hiker.

Along this descent, you will pass through the traditional poios, which make up this fantastic agricultural landscape, characteristic of this area.

3th Day- Levada do Furado- Ribeiro Frio / Portela (11km) 5h walk

This trail starts at Ribeiro Frio at 860m altitude. The Levada has 11 km and a duration of 5 hours, starting at Ribeiro Frio, crossing the Laurissilva forest. It is one of the oldest public levadas. This trail ends with a descent to Portela.

The route has an intermittent proximity and horizon with nature, and the path is covered by the dense vegetation there, and there is also space for open panoramas where the central mountainous massif and all its natural splendor can be seen. During the course you can see the various tributaries and streams that flow into Levada do Furado, taking full advantage of the Levada water catchment.

The geological connection with the course is a constant, there are several small tunnels that dig the rock and uniquely embellish the path.

4th day- Vereda do Larano / Machico / Porto da Cruz (11km) 5h walk

It is next to the old Caniçal tunnel that you start with a Levada offering magnificent views over Ribeira Seca and Machico until you reach the Mirador do Boca do Risco, where you can enjoy the north coast of the island of Madeira and see the island of Porto Santo. Relax, before following the walk along a path often used by the population to move between the two locations. From here, up to Porto da Cruz, the route is made by the slope overlooking the ocean, in a path sometimes narrow and vertigo. In Porto da Cruz, a visit to the historic Company of the Engenhos do Norte, you can observe one of the main living testimonies of the glorious past of sugar production in the island and retreat at the beginning of the century XX.

5th Day- Levada do Moinho (9km, round trip) 4h walk

Transfer to Lombada da Ponta do Sol, where the Levada do Moinho (water mill) begins at the forest station of Santa, in Porto Moniz on the North Coast of Madeira Island.

At the beginning of this route, the well-cultivated agricultural land stands out, giving a pleasant view to the hikers.

Among them are the fantastic lush landscapes, endemic flora and fauna, waterfalls and small streams. At the end of the route, you can climb the path that leads to Levada Nova. When you arrive, follow the opposite direction until you reach the imposing waterfall of this Levada. Contemplate the place before returning on the same path.

6th Day- Vereda do Urzal (11km) 5h walk

The trail starts at Fajã dos Cardos, in Curral das Freiras, and runs along an old path that connects the south coast and the north coast of the island of Madeira, ending at Boaventura.The trail is always going up to Boca das Torrinhas and from here you will always down to Lombo do Urzal, in the parish of Boaventura.

The scenery in Boca das Torrinhas is incredible, provided by the contrast between the top of the peaks surrounding Curral das Freiras, from which we point out to Pico Ruivo, the island´s highest peak with 1862m, and by the picturesque valley of Curral das Freiras. The presence of exotic vegetation at the beginning of the trail precedes a luxuriant area of ​​natural vegetation, both of altitude and of Laurissilva forest – classified as a World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO since December 1999.

7th Day- Pico do Areeiro / Pico Ruivo / Achada do Teixeira (10km) 5h walk

The crossing at altitude of Pico do Areeiro (1818mt) to the highest peak of the island of Madeira, Pico Ruivo (1862mt). Up there, you will enjoy a 360º view of the entire island.

Descend to Achada do Teixeira, time to visit a natural figure in basaltic rock, the “Standing Man”.

8th Day- Levada do Alecrim / Rabaçal / Levada do Risco / Levada das 25 Fontes (16km) 6h walk

Transfer to the Rabaçal, site of the enchantments and the exuberant waterfalls.

Beginning of the first walk along the Levada of Alecrim. Until you reach the mother of the Levada, you can appreciate the vast vegetation composed mainly of Tree Heather and Madeira Blueberry, as well as several species of regional fauna, where birds and cows stand out. Down to the Rabaçal, site of charming and exuberant waterfalls. Going down to Rabaçal’house where you can start the trek of Levada do Risco with a dizzy waterfall. Then continue to Levada walk of 25 Fontes (25 Fountains). After arriving in the 25 Fontes delight yourself with the landscapes and the environment, like the waterfalls gushing toward a magnificent lagoon. Take a break and open your mind. Throughout the Levadas of Century XIX (1835/1855), you will be able to admire an innumerable and different species of Madeiran flora.

9th Day- Canyoning

The Madeira Island is one of the places with the best conditions in the world to practice canyoning. Its geographical location ensures a mild climate for much of the year. The geological features offer itineraries with different degrees of difficulty suitable for all practitioners.

10th day- Catamaran tour (3 hours)

You can even have the opportunity to see up close, dolphin, whales, and giant tortoises. Near to Cabo Girão, you still have time for a swim in a contagious blue sea.

11th/12th Days- Porto Santo

Known for the warm, turquoise waters, diving sites and the long 9 km golden, fine sand beach on the island of Porto Santo. A true invitation to glorious sunbathing, sea and rest.

13th Day- Free day

Enjoy a Free day at Madeira Island.
