A week of discovery and adventure in the main tourist attractions of the Island with accommodation, transport, excursions and tours with local guide. The itinerary on these days includes garden visits, museums, Mercado dos Lavradores, (Farmers’ market), excursions, Island tours and a whole day to discover the golden sands in the neighboring Island of Porto Santo.

1st Day-Trip / Arrival

Dinner “Bailinho da Madeira”
Enjoy a gastronomic experience in a typical Madeira Restaurant with homemade flavors and tradition. Here you can taste the famous Espetada da Madeira (beef skewer), accompanied with fried corn and traditional bolo do caco (bread), all while enjoying seeing the “Bailinho da Madeira”, traditional music and dancing.

2nd day- Trip to the East of Madeira Island

Departure from the hotel to Camacha where you can visit a factory and workshop of wicker works. You will travel to Pico do Areeiro (the 3rd highest mountain in Madeira, at 1818 meters of altitude), where you will have splendid views from the Eastern Mountain Massif. The tour continues down to Ribeiro Frio where you can taste the famous Madeira Poncha, surrounded by pure nature and visit the trout nurseries. After an aperitif, lunch is followed by Santana where you can visit the typical traditional houses of Santana, some of which are still inhabited. Before going down to Porto da Cruz to visit the Sugar Cane Museum, time for a stop at the viewpoint of Portela, where you will have a magnificent view of the cliff of Penha de Águia and the village of Porto da Cruz.

The final stop on the trip before returning to Funchal is in lovely Machico to visit one of the oldest churches on the island, the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Church. The tour ends at the stone beaches and the golden sand beach, an imported stretch of soft sand created in the Bay of Machico that only adds to the charm of this historic city.

3rd day- Journey to the South of Madeira Island

Departure in the morning to the highest sea cliff in Europe, at 580 meters above sea level, Cabo Girão, with wonderful views of the ocean, Câmara de Lobos, and Funchal. The tour continues to Ribeira Brava to visit the Ethnographic Museum that preserves traditional Madeira culture. You can also go for a walk along the beach before to going to Ponta do Sol to visit another stone beach where locals and tourists alike enjoy the sun almost all year round and also visit the church built at the end of the 15th century, Senhora da Luz. The tour continues to visit one of the most flowery and charming parishes of the Island, Jardim do Mar. Lunch follows in Calheta, one of the hottest places in Madeira with a fantastic golden sand (imported) beach. After lunch, time to relax on the beach before heading back to Funchal.

4th day- Journey to the West

Departure from the Hotel towards Câmara de Lobos, a traditional fishing village surrounded by superb terraces of banana trees. After a visit to the beautiful bay of Câmara de Lobos, the trip continues to the only plateau of the island, Paúl da Serra at 1400 meters of altitude, by the parish of Canhas. If the day is clear, you will have the opportunity to see a unique landscape in Rabaçal. This is a unique and magical place, filled with majestic walks, waterfalls, fountains, and lagoons surrounded by a splendid forest. Descend to Porto Moniz for lunch and take a dip in the most beautiful natural pools of the island of Madeira.

After relaxing, continue to São Vicente, where after a stop, you will cross the island, North to South via Chão dos Louros, another important area of the Laurissilva, a World Heritage site since 1999. Last stop is the summit of  Encumeada at 1007 meters of altitude, where you can view both the north and south coasts of the island. Departure to Funchal.

5th Day-Cultural Day in Funchal city

Departure to the old town, passing through some great tourist attractions, Mercado dos Lavradores, the Farmers Market. An iconic place, experience the kaleidoscope of colors and smells of the regional products. Next, visit an embroidery factory in Madeira. This is followed by a by a scenic cable car trip to the Monte parish to visit one of the most charming gardens in Funchal, Monte Jardim Tropical Palace, with a collection of exotic plants from all the world, swans, ducks, on the central lagoon. After lunch, you will enjoy a very special form of transport, the “Monte sledge” made of basketwork. It’s an unmissable experience.

Time to visit Casa Museu Frederico de Freitas. The museum features secular collections of sculpture, painting, engraving, furniture, ceramics, and crystals belonging to the lawyer, notary and collector from Madeira Dr. Frederico de Freitas.

6th day- In a mountainous circus

Departure from the hotel to enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic viewpoints in Funchal, the Pico dos Barcelos. We follow along up to Eira do Serrado to admire another splendid viewpoint at 1094 meters of altitude, which overlooks the valley of Curral das Freiras, itself a small village surrounded by mountains, right in the heart of the Island. Lunch follows at the o Lagar Restaurant.

7th Day- Porto Santo Island

Known for the warm, turquoise waters, diving sites and the long 9 km golden fine sand beach on the island of Porto Santo. A true invitation to glorious sunbathing, sea and rest.

8th day- Departure
