1st Day-Trip / Arrival

It’s the day you Arrive to Madeira Island.

2nd day- Tropical Garden Monte Palace

Departure from the Hotel Exit towards the old tourist town,Mercado dos Lavradores, the Farmers Market. An emblematic place, mixed colors and smells for the regional products. We follow the magnificent Rua de Santa Maria Rua Santa Maria, which became the most historic of Funchal, the ex-libris of the city, more concretely of the old part of Funchal. A narrow street that starts at Rua do Brigadeiro and ends at the Forte de Santiago. A painting, poetry, Renovation Street, became without a doubt the most existential street of Funchal night. The trip follows by cable car to Monte parish to visit one of the most charming gardens in Funchal, Monte Jardim Tropical Palace, with a collection of exotic plants from all the world, swans, ducks, on the central lagoon. Finally, the adventure on very special transport, the “Monte sledge” made of basketwork. It’s an unmissable experience.

After lunch visits the Frederico de Freitas Museum where it presents secular collections of sculpture, painting, engraving, furniture, and ceramics and crystals belonging to the lawyer, notary and collector From Madeira, Dr. Frederico de Freitas.

3rd day- Quinta Vigia Garden

A walk through the city of Funchal to Quinta Vigia, it is currently the official residence of the Regional Government of Madeira. Here there are beautiful public gardens that invite to a pleasant walk. This area was formerly known as Quinta das Angústias, because it has a chapel dating from the 17th century that invoked Nossa Senhora das Angústias. It follows the Park of Santa Catarina that offers beautiful views over the Bay of Funchal. The park offers its visitors several species of world flora and a charming lake with a small island where the ducks and swans live. The pleasant gardens of the farmhouse are open to the public. The tour goes to the Municipal Garden also known as Jardim Dona Amélia, where it once existed the Convent of San Francisco. Here you will find flora from Madeira and many other parts of the world.

It follows the walk to the Cathedral of Sé Funchal, classified as National Monument since 1910, is the main religious temple of the Archipelago, being much visited by the inhabitants and visitors of the city of Funchal.

Another Church to be visited is the College of the Jesuits is, for its historical importance, one of the most emblematic buildings of the city of Funchal.

Lunch

After lunch, visit one of the oldest embroidery factories in Madeira, Bordal. With around 150 years of history, the production process of the Wood Embroidery maintains its authenticity, being a totally handmade embroidery of high quality, as you can witness when visiting the factory.

Dinner: Hotel

4th day – Quinta Jardins do Imperador / Quinta Magnólia

The Quinta Jardins do Imperador is one of the most emblematic of Madeira not only for its lush gardens but also for that Emperor Charles of Austria lived and died there. Descent into the famous “basket cars” that are one of the most known attractions of Madeira.

After the adventure, tour to the Garden of the Quinta Magnólia, inserted in the Quinta with the same name, is located near the tourist zone of the Lido. The area of this Quinta is about 35 000 m2.

Lunch

Visit Quinta das Cruzes Museum, one of the greatest historical and traditional of Funchal with Portuguese and foreign furniture, jewelry, pottery, and sculpture are included in the rich collection of Madeira.

5th day- Garden of the Quinta Splendida / Quinta do Santo da Serra

Departure from Funchal towards the Botanic Garden of Quinta Splendida, located in Caniço, has more than 1000 species of plants and flowers.

The trip goes to the municipality of Machico, in Santo da Serra to visit the gardens there are several collections of plants, a combination of exotic and indigenous species that can be contemplated by the visitors highlighting at the entrance and characterizing the farm: azaleas, rhododendrons, and the camellias and a small exhibition of animals, with peacocks, a population of deer and a group of horses of race Garrano. The Garrano, is a small and robust horse that is distributed by Minho and Trás-os-Montes.

Lunch at Ribeiro Frio. After the meal, time for a stroll through the splendid Laurissilva. This small trail is 1.5 Km long, a duration of 1:30 hours and starts at Ribeiro Frio, following Levada da Serra do Faial to the viewpoint of the Balconies, where you can enjoy magnificent views.

6th day – Horseback Ride

An extraordinary experience since Santo da Serra, 900m high, by the secret paths of the island of Madeira.
