1st Day-Trip / Arrival

It’s the day you Arrive to Madeira Island.

2nd Day- Vereda do Larano / Machico / Porto da Cruz

Starting next to the old road tunnel linking the Caniçal and Machico, this route offers hikers a unique experience that allows you to unleash your spirit of adventure and discovery. Climb until the great viewpoint in Boca do Risco, where you can enjoy the north coast of the island of Madeira and see the island of Porto Santo. Relax, before following the walk along the path often used by the population to move between the two locations. From here, up to Porto da Cruz, the route is made by the slope overlooking the ocean, in a path sometimes narrow and dizzy, with protections.

In Porto da Cruz, a visit to the historic Company of the Engenhos do Norte will allow you to know one of the main living witnesses of the glorious past of sugar production in the island and to retreat at the beginning of the century XX.

3rd day- Ponta de São Lourenço (8km, go and return trip) 3h / 3h30 walk

Departure from the Bay D’ Abra. Discover a walk of minerals, dikes, and stunning colors. The peninsula is classified as a partial natural reserve and the Desembarcadouro Islet, an integral natural reserve.

Before climbing to the end of the trip you can view the ‘Deserted Islands’ as well as the island of Porto Santo. Finally, take a rest in the Sardinhas House (name of the family of the old owners) and dive in the bay of the Sardinhas.

4th day- Queimadas Park / Levada Caldeirão Verde/Ilha (16km) 5h30h walk

Transfer to Queimadas Park. On this Levada walk, we lose ourselves in a lush green forest with flowers, green mossy walls, ferns, and waterfalls. You will discover one of the most spectacular Levadas on the island, with impressive canyon valleys, the origin of the Laurissilva vegetation (Unesco World Heritage).

This Levada is an impressive work of art built in the XVIII Century, which crosses abrupt cliffs and mountains and transports the water that flows from the highest mountains of the island. Along the way, you will pass through 4 tunnels excavated by hand, until arriving at the waterfall formed lake of the Caldeirão Verde at 100mt. After resting and delighting in this spectacular natural landscape, it’s time to return.

5th day- Cabanas de São Jorge / Quinta do Furão (4h30) 10km walk

This tour starts in Cabanas de São Jorge parish, where we go down to the Ocean, discovering an exuberant view.

We cross farmlands to São Jorge. There, you will down by a real path to the beach of Calhau de São Jorge, where you can enjoy the sun and take a dip in a break to relax.

We continue, by another real way to Quinta do Furão where you will taste of an exceptional Madeira wine in the Typical Adega (Wine Cellar).

6th day- To Pico Ruivo /Achada do Teixeira (6km, round trip) 2.30h walk

This tour, starts at Achada do Teixeira and reaches Pico Ruivo at 1862 mt, the highest peak on the island. From here you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the whole island. Back to Achada do Teixeira, time to visit a natural figure in basaltic rock, the “Standing Man”. Stop in Santana to visit the famous traditional houses.

7th day- Canyoning or Diving

Canyoning the Island of Madeira is one of the places with the best conditions in the world to practice canyoning. Its geographical location ensures a mild climate for much of the year. The geological features offer itineraries with different degrees of difficulty suitable for all practitioners.

Diving the island of Madeira is one of the most privileged places in Europe to practice diving where you will have an unforgettable underwater experience. The temperate and crystalline waters of Madeira allow you to dive into its natural reserves and observe cnidarians such as anemones, black corals, and fish such as grouper, moray eels, and even sea lions, the rarest seals in the world.
